What are you doing with your outdated compacts?

If I can’t get out of trouble with 7 shots 1000 more isn’t gonna help. Keeping my shield because it serves the purpose and I really don’t have the money to buy the latest and greatest.
If someone wants to donate me a hi cap pocket gun I will give the shield away and carry my new pistol proudly.

For 43 years 9 rounds in the gun and a couple spare mags have been enough.
I keep a hi cap 9 and a carbine in my truck if need more

When I actually get round to test firing it, it will be LCP Max strong side w the 12rd mag and LCP weak side with the 8rd mag. New York Reload all the way lol
When my OG LCP finally gets around to dying I may replace it with a Max. But it keeps running so I'll keep shooting and carrying it I suppose.

Some people must be terrified of being in a gunfight and only having 4-5 rounds remaining when the fight is over rather than 8-10.
I'm carrying a 380 or a 32 usually. If there's one dude on the other end he's getting the whole mag(s) worth lol

It was a chance trade off the forum, rather than a "must replace!". I do like the extra heft and real estate for the hand with the 12rd mags though. Feel less likely to fly away when you shoot it lol

If you want to borrow it for a test drive, let me know.

I honestly wouldn't mind having one. It's just low on the priority of wants. Hell my OG LCP doesn't get carried much.

I mean I still carry one of those outdated 5 shot J Frames in my pocket on occasion. With **gasp** 148 gr wadcutters in it.

Surely that will be the reason I die.
Same here, Smith 442 but different load. Wouldn't mind a 365 or Shield Plus at some point but when I'm only home 2-4 weeks a year not worth it. Mean time have a M9 with 5 loaded mags in reach.

Same man. It’s the G43 for belt carry and the 642 for pocket or jacket carry. 158gr LSWC hand loads in the 642.

Sometimes I’ll change it up, but those 2 cover the vast majority of my needs.

Wait... what...

You people actually SELL guns?

Sheesh.

If something comes along I have to have, I just buy it. Roach motel for guns here; they check in, but they DON'T check out.
I'm a Poor. If I want more sometimes something has to go.

Bathroom gun*
Laundry room gun
Kitchen gun
Pantry gun
Doghouse gun
Garage gun
Coffeemaker gun
Freezer gun
Study gun
Greenhouse gun
Printer gun
Piano piece
Old tax documents folder gun
Dishwasher gun
Microwave gun
Silverware drawer gun
Throw pillow gun
Hollowed-out dictionary gun
Monopoly board game gun (put in safe before playing... you know exactly what I'm talking about)

The possibilities are limitless.

*I do highly suggest a carbine for the bathroom gun. You're at your most vulnerable and the psychological warfare bonus of a naked man with Charmin in one hand and a M4gery in the other is quite high to chase away even the most hardened criminal scum.
You forgot about back up gun gun

I’ve always thought it was funny I feel just as safe with a 642/442 smith as I would with a single stack ppk/mak, beretta 85, S&w or Khar single stack - but none of those could compete with having a double stack full size like a beretta, g17, or an m17 with the smaller guns you know you’ll be fine but with a double stack full size you have that extra bit of comfort to where you could handle just about anything

Did you tell them bleeding the system will make it go down?
I even showed them my papers from the Pope declaring me fit to administer drenches, leechings, purges and bleedings.

They were not impressed. Even when I put on my beaky mask.

Having either of those number of rounds left would mean I’d just been in a pretty good shootout. 😝

I didn’t feel outgunned when I went from a 20 round double stack to a 7 round single stack. I don’t feel the need to get an intermediate 13 1.5 stack now. If I did, I would probably go back to the double stack since I already own it.

I think it's a great question. When I got my first 365, I thought I'd get rid of my Kahr PM9 (single stack) - but I didn't. The Kahr carries noticeably lighter, flatter and has a place in my summer line-up. I'm also not too concerned about capacity., and often carry a 5-shot, J-frame .357.

I can’t explain it but for some reason I want the all stainless version of that thing with the wood stocks. It’s too heavy for what it is and Kahr doesn’t seem as well regarded as it used to be, but I still want it for some reason.

If I remember correctly, the steel had a better trigger, the plasitc more ergonomic.......or visa-versa......

Edit: On second thought, I think the plastic had a better trigger and the steel was more comfortable/ergonomic.

I might not buy a sub compact single stack new with the current options, but I don't feel under gunned with the ones I have. They're slim and light, the DB9 is hot garbage reliability wise (no rnge time) but makes a .380 seem bulky, wife likes the Shield.

Entirely up to you, I wouldn't fault you for stashing them away or hiding a gun in every room but if you want to sell them and get something more expensive then you would normally buy then do that. You can also sell them and put the money towards ammo and training. You can't spend enough on ammo and training.

With the era of single stack 7-9rd compacts at an end, what is everyone doing with their Shields, PPS', and the like? I've never been much for selling my collection but I'm wondering if I'd be better off doing so and taking the cash to get some newer designs.

With the 365xl and Xmacro, I'd likely never carry any of the smaller capacity guns again...that said, not sure if it's worth the ~ $300ish (if that) I'd get from them.
I'm way behind in my normal practice according to the quick scan I did of the posts🤔. My "compact" is way behind your "compact" era that seems to be ending😅

In 2012ish I picked up a smith m&p9 compact, a 12rd double stack. The shield was the new hotness then, but it worked for me.

Today, that m&p9c is still my edc. No idea how many rounds are on it or how much abuse I have put it through. But it's comfortable, reliable and available.

I do have an lcp and a shield in .40 for "specific situations" but they rarely/never occur in my day to day. Honestly didn't "need" them but I like them. But my 'ol buddy still just does it's thing.

Watched the "slim, single stack, new hotness" 9mm stuff come in. Read about and appreciated them. Never really bit. Watches the "almost slim, 1.5 stack, new hotness" roll in. Same as before and never bit.

Now it seems compact, double stack are coming back🤔

I suppose what I am saying. Is that in the last century. What is old, is new again with firearm tech. Don't sell what you have for the new hotness. Popular gun lore seems to be cyclic.

Take two of them. Tie a piece of paracord to both trigger guards.
You now have either nunchucks or bolas depending on your mood and circumstances.
Wouldn't those be gunchucks?

I’ll carry a P365 when a P365 looks like this.
The Bond theme just played in my head.

And you would be better gunned than most. ;)
