What did you do in the reloading room today?

Today I threw some primers, powder, and lead into about 600 of the brass cases @Gaston gave me. Barely put a dent in the pile. Thanks again, Mr. Gaston!

You need some nickel plated .38? My uncle gave me some and I have no use for it.

What was the worst part of the cleaning?
Probably the charging handle. Just the fact I had to figure out how to do it without damaging the spring. There is a small pin pin hole in the charging handle to to hold the spring back. I did not have a punch small enough but did have a very tiny screw driver that fit. Worked well. Also when putting the bolt back in you have to remember it goes in upside down. The tab on the load gate runs in the grove on the bolt. The barrel goes off and on quite easily.

There was really not anything hard.

This pic was taken after I already started to clean the bolt

I was using up small quantities of bullets and have made it to maybe 300ish loaded rounds so far of a few different types. I decided I liked the Georgia Arms cast ones so went to their website and nothing showed available to buy. I called them and found out they had a bad fire last July 2023 and are just now moving back in. Good news is they hope to be selling normally again in a couple of weeks.

Overloaded my tumbler twice in the past couple days to save some time. Turned into a pain. I usually only tumble one caliber at a time or I’ll at least do a couple case sizes that won’t get stuck in each other. A random outing to shoot at a buddies hunt club turned out to be a goldmine of rangebrass. I probably brought home 20+ pounds of it and they were tickled just to have the place cleaned up.

Anyway I just dumped it all in two separate batches and let her eat. Ended up with countless cases stuck together and a lot of those were wedged so well with pins stuck in them that I ruined both cases trying to reclaim all my pins.

Good enough for storage though. They’ll get cleaned again properly after depriming and before being loaded.

One shiny batch:

Starting on .38 super, last reloaded it in 2012 according to my log! I must've loaded a bunch because I finally shot off the last 47 this morning. I have an unopened carton of 500 WW 130gr RNFMJ bullets to load up. Last time I used Blue Dot powder. Looks like it will be Unique this time.

You made me feel better. I was going through my stuff the other day and I have 38 special from 2012 and 45 ACP from 2014 and a heck of a lot of 9mm from 2018.

Last few days have been loading and testing pressures with these bullets in both 300 Winchester and 308 Winchester, getting set up to do Terminal Tests on Tuesday.......

I loaded 50 .223 with 80gr amax bullets. I gotta single load them but they shoot real good, although slow. Gonna sling them at some steel, maybe a deer this season.

starting load work up for my 358win.

hopefully this weekend i’ll be able to hit the range.

i got 277wlv, 270win and now the 358win loads to test.

let me tell you, even with Lee dies this Co-Ax press has gotten me consistent numbers with around .002 variance. with redding dies for my 270 it’s .0005 variance. this is with sizing (measured off shoulder) and seating (measured at ogive)

i haven’t seen that ever, but i’ve only had Lyman and Lee presses though

Old CCI's and a round try Lee Autoprime by chance.. vintage reloading, all you need now is the "Nutcracker "

yes I think that is an old Lee Autoprime tray. It came in a box of odds and ends and I use it as a flip tray for the Dillon pick-up tubes. I'm not sure what's the reloading nutcracker though?

I loaded up 50 pcs of 7.5x55 Swiss. My load workup from last november had me testing 4064 at 40.5, 40.8, 41.0, 41.3, 41.5. There was no pressure signs on any of these (as expected, Hornady max load is 43.2). I settled on the 41 grain load because it grouped nicely at 200 and it kicks significantly less. When ejecting the brass it's barely warm.
I'll decap and label the brass later after lunch.

I also played around with the new Norma brass and Swiss P bullets I got from Raven Rocks Precision. I found the maximum overall length I can load those is exactly the same as the Amax and Hornady HPBT bullets, but they're shorter projectiles overall so there's more room for powder. Going to have to work up a load again to use those.

A friend at work brought me a box today that had a Lee Pro 1000 press in it, that apparently hasn’t been used in years. He isn’t a reloader (yet) and said he would never use it, someone had given it to him. It doesn’t have all the accessories. It has an Auto Disk measure, that doesn’t seem to be in working order, and missing some disks. It only has the primer chute for large primers. It needs some TLC. I took some oil to it to stop the rust, and it does move freely, so I think I will play with it and get it operational.

With the $hitty weather there was nothing to do so I went to the reloading bench. Loaded 200 - 9 MM (150 124 gn plated and 50 124 HP) and 100 - 223 with 55 FMJ. It the weather does not clear up, thinking about expanding a couple 1000 9 MM that have been resized.

Weather..it doesnt know what it wants to do, weather forecast thunderstorms at 3pm now its after 5, forecast for thunderstorms at 7pm, really?
So trying to get things inside to where i can start mounting bench tops, shelves, etc. Did manage to get another bench built with casters, less top to use for gunsmithing work
