Your screen name?

well you beat me. i'm 5'7" and i'm at 11.5EE. and I know i have trouble finding shoes that don't crush my toes...
I feel your pain. It took a special order to get a new pair of Justin boots.
My mother always said I’d be 6’3” if they hadn’t folded so much over for feet.

my dad still asks me when i'm gonna get another growth spurt because my feet were bigger than his when i was like 10.
dad, i'm in my 40s. just admit i'm stunted and move on.

First custom single shot rifle I cobbled together.....a Sharp's 40-50 bottle neck. 370g round nose at 1450 fps. Slew a big Barbarossa Ram with it. Got it shoulder mounted and I tanned its sac for a muzzleloading possible bag. Rifle and sac is long gone but I still have the trophy.

I happened to be listening to The Doors when I registered here and Jim Morrison is one of my favorite musicians, hence, LizardKing. I'm no expert on anything reptilian, although I did have a Columbian red tailed Boa in college.

One of the other forums I'm registered on, I'm panchoNlefty....cause that's what was playing when I registered....
When you're strange, no one remembers your name...

I was into FPS games since Wolfenstein 3D, as well as flight sims, up until just a few years ago. As they got more advanced I would gravitate to the most realistic of both genres. Operation Flashpoint was a ground breaking combat sim with realistic physics and large go anywhere maps that still exists today as ARMA 3. Includes a complex mission editor for generating an infinite number of scenarios. Spent many years bonding with my son playing those games.

Could have sworn I had already replied to this but the icon says no, maybe it was an earlier thread.

It’s ok…at least a dozen or so have posted their explanation since it was bumped, even though it was already here earlier. 🙄

Last name is Barfield. I’m college my best friends included 4 other Michaels. So it was all last names or abbreviations. I pulled the short straw, clearly.
What happened to the "e?"

I changed it to barf when I figured out that was an option lol. A lot of people call me barf so might as well.

Really I have no story. Came to me because news media always said or printed it was a black gun.

Uhhh, mid-nineties timeframe. I was sitting in my office when my phone rang. My supervisor told me everyone HAD to have an email address ( what's email, boss ?) right now because HQ was setting up AOL accounts for everyone ( had no computers, but that's another story). He said to pick a name, any name; but he had to have an answer right now. The Hornady box of pistol ammo on my desk and the 700 leaning in the corner became my instant answer and stands to this day.

Already explained upstream, but even without the backstory, it's pretty self explanatory for anyone who knows me.

Unfortunately, I can't really use the birth year thing in my tag. If I used carl70, you'd think I was a 51 or 52 y/o guy, but if use carl69, everyone's gonna think I'm a 13 y/o kid. And they wouldn't be entirely wrong, but that's beside the point 🤣

Original screen name was my name. Then I realized if you googled my name this forum would pop up so I changed it to a cartoon character I assumed would squanchin confuse a bunch of people here.

Love this forum but I have a desk job, with a lot of liberals. For the most part I attempt to stay under the radar at work.

Well speak of the devil. Bohemia Interactive that made Operation Flashpoint and ARMA has just been bought by BAE.

I like to shoot- collect high end 1911's and swiss made handguns that need very little tuning. The avatar is a Phoenix Redback, a very sweet gun to be a 9mm, but I prefer the fatboy (.45) rounds mostly when I'm shooting.

I needed a name for a character I made that was very important to me, who happens to be an anthropomorphic gnoll/spotted hyena. Prior to that, Facebook asked me what my religion was. Being a smart-aleck, I put "The Cult of Yathuurgnash" (Yah-thoor-gah-nash) because that's what came to mind at time of asking (I was reading a lot of HP Lovecraft at the time). When it came time to name said character, I flipped Yathuurgnash into Gnash-Yathuur, because with Gnash there was the gnashing of teeth, and Yathuur sounded Abyssal enough to work with the backstory of the character. Yathuur got more raised eyebrows than Gnash did, and more folks know what hyenas are than they know what gnolls are. So while Gnash-Yathuur is that character's official name, in using him as my persona, I go by Gnash Hyena just as easily one or the other. :)

I’m curious about how people came up with their names.

Mine was an attempt to spell what was apparently the Chinese equivalent of my name, Jeff. I worked in China off and on (mostly on) from 2000 until a few years ago. Actually, the way they pronounced the word sounded more like Jeep-poo.
Mines a combo from 1996 when i was creating an email not using my first.last name or anything stupid like soccergirl that wouldn't be professional as an adult. Ode to James taylor's "fire and rain"...ive got more than one facet, so i liked the opposites. Rayne is middle name and 7 is the & key and my fave #. 😉

I think mine was a Keyser Soze moment where I was watching Battlestar Gallactica and just typed in the first thing that came to mind. (frakncylons)

Then some people started calling me Frank so I just changed it. 🤷‍♂️

For what it's worth, I immediately recognized Frackin Cylons from Battlestar Galactica, and was debating how best to make a Captain Apollo reference with you. :D

Mine didn’t take much thought, shoulda changed it up more.

I don’t collect Colts per se, mainly just Pythons. I have an anonymous Instagram I post stuff on that’s more reflective of what I collect. (Colt and Norinco stuff)

Mine came about from wanting to change away from my real name. I was arguing with the old guys here, I know @fieldgrade was one of them, and made a chicken hawk joke when they used a Foghorn Legion meme. I got @BurnedOutGeek to change it for me.

I don’t know who’s more at fault: Dodge for stopping production of that car or the general public who was too dumb to buy it and keep it on production!!!

Both! A single exec made the decision to kill the Magnum. It's one of the greatest 'dad cars' of all time. Total loop hole with the wife as well.. "babe, i'm just gonna get a wagon, ya know it'll be great with the kids". LOL.

I can't put on a poncho either.

1075 tech. I was a propane technician. 1075 is the UN number on the placards. Still in the industry, I just don't do the dirty work and heavy lifting anymore
