Not to be a pot stirrer, but suppose a neighbor hood walker or other passer by had stopped to neutralize the shooter what would the response be? That a CCW holder saved their life instead of Capitol Police? I just question how different the media and maybe even politicians would have the story spin.

The left's base is being whipped up into a frenzy by people who's true aim is the destruction of our nation, and anyone is surprised that something like this happened? They have ticked each of the JACA points for folks like Hodgkinson, and it has been very intentional. It was only a matter of time until something like this happened. IMO the only thing that went wrong for them is that one of their ticking time bombs went off a little early.

So yeah, we pretty much know who to blame, and it ain't the gun.

Email is a pretty stupid way to make a threat. By it's very nature, it is hard to fake the server used.

I think that is excellent. I prize honesty and openness, and for too long the left has been hiding in the shadows and using masks and the media to do their work. About time they come out and get on with it. Now it should be painfully obvious to the R's who and what the enemy is. Are the R's going to fight for the side of freedom, or are they going to reach out for solidarity with the Marxist scum known as D's that spawned this movement and these people? I think I know the anwswer, but I wouldn't mind being wrong.

Hey something just hit me! Didn't the Obama Adminstration and the Silverback Gorilla ( Janet Napolitano ) once tell us we have more to fear from domestic terrorists than Al Qaeda? I'll be damned if they weren't right. Now I wonder how they would have known such a thing. Hhhhmmmm? Maybe because these domestic terrorists are Democrat useful idiots. BINGO! Damn, they did! And they meant us conservatives but I'd venture to say that most of the active of "domestic terrorism" have been by the species wacko liberalis idiotius. CBS News reported (and supposedly confirmed) around noon today that the guy was shooting an M4. I just listened to the video and I only heard one instance that sounded like a two round burst; everything else sounded semi-auto.

I don't think that any M4's were pre-86 NFA and thus transferable, so if it really was an M4 this may have been a stolen military weapon.

That's what I was seeing on TV this morning. If they are correct it would be interesting to find out how he got ahold of military grade weapons.

I'm not disputing the fact, but in the video posted from the NY Times, I don't hear any 3 rd burst. Maybe it was select fire and he only fired in semi auto?

I just listened to the video; sounded SA to me (but with one instance of a two round burst).

The video clips I have seen on TV with sound do not sound like 3 round bursts ... it also was reported first to be an AK ... until the FBI and CLEOs state what it was in a press conference anything the media says is as reliable as a life guard with ADD.

I don't think any of the bobbleheads commenting in the news after a shooting are anywhere in the same universe of precision of firearms terms as you are.

Odds are great this was a semi-auto. And keep in mind Capitol Police were shooting back. Had this been a full auto rifle, the guy would have to have had a good deal of practice to be able to repeatedly fire single shots. Especially while under return fire. He was probably too busy protesting Trump to acquire this level of skill.
