The Book of Boba Fett

That was a really good episode. I kinda wish they put their eggs in the Mandalorian bucket instead of doing the Boba Fett series.

I put on Facebook the quote from the Armorer "Persistence without insight leads to the same outcome" because I really like it and it's true. People on FB are digging it, thinking it's from Confucius or some other philosopher.

Now if you started to get a stiffy when Armorer showed up, I understand.
Emily Swallow is HOT!
She was The Darkness on Supernatural and played Jason Hayes’ girlfriend/therapist on Seal Team

I had no idea who she was (you know, since they can't take off their helmet and all), but I zeroed in when you mentioned her on SEAL Team.

She is my future ex wife.
This is the way!
She was the main protagonist on season 11 of Supernatural. Basically she is God’s (yep they went there) twin sister and he locked her away at the beginning of time, and now she is back and she is loaded off!

I'm a long time Star Wars fan. Boba Fett has always been my favorite character. I enjoyed watching all of the Star Wars movies, even the prequels. I read some of the comics and some of the novels.

I loved The Mandalorian Season 1 and 2.

I have really enjoyed The Book of Boba Fett. Every time someone on this thread criticized The Book of Boba Fett, I wanted to argue and push back to defend Boba Fett.

But, I just saw, the newest episode... When it was over, I thought to myself, "That was amazing! That was the best episode so far!"

And then I realized that Boba Fett wasn't even in it.

As much as I love the memory of what Boba Fett meant to me, as a fan, growing up... The Mandalorian is the character that I always wanted Boba Fett to be.

People forget Boba had 4 lines in Empire and basically a nod in Return of the Jedi and then was eaten by the Sarlacc.

Even if you add in the reshoots by Lucas he has about 8 minutes of footage as Boba the Bounty Hunter. He is more myth than truth.

Good breakdown minus the product pitch.... I agree they are setting up the 3rd season of the Mando.

The Book of Boba Fett has been surprisingly good, gets better with each episode. It is a bit goofy and the special effects are just so-so sometimes but in some way that actually makes it better. I think it is because the stories are so good that it doesn’t need top notch special effects to keep you interested.

Episode 5 was by far the best episode despite not having Boba Fett in it. My wife hates it which makes me like it even more.

If Mando brings out Cara Dune to the finally all will be redeemed.
Can’t.
Gina Carano was fired for posting “Boop/Bop/Beep” as her pronouns after being harassed and bullied because she didn’t post her pronouns.
She would have been forgiven faster if she had molested kids.
Seriously.

My pronouns are:
Megatron/Cybertron/Optimustron

That's what I'm talking about. All that didn't go over well for Disney.

If you have watched The Mandalorian, you have seen a lot of investment in character development that has given an emotional tie to the character. It seems like they are trying to push the Cliff Notes version with Boba Fett by doing it through flashbacks, which can't possibly hold a candle to The Mandalorian story arc.

How else were you going to do it? Boba is not a new character that was created out of thin air. You have some history inside and outside of "canon" detailing his history. Also Boba is as much myth and legend as he is a character on film. They have to back fill it somehow to explain where he is now and what his motivations are. The Mandalorian was also slow at times but only after you had made and emotional attachment to The Child.

Bryce Dallas Howard. Talk about multitalented. Talk about hotness.

Her good looks aside I think she did a better job with directing then Rodriguez, Green or Tanchareon. At this point she is the only director to do episodes in both seasons of the Mandalorian and The Book of Fett. I think she did a perfect job of making episode 5 a mini Mando Episode. It moves the Mando story forward and helps sync up the timeline with The Book of Fett. I hope that Favreau and Filoni are the directors of the last 2 Episodes.

Yeah, she's a hell of a director. Dad taught her well, and I mean that. She should do all of them.

The style, feel and flow of the episode was head and shoulders above the other 4. I also enjoyed the "Kim's Convenience" tie in back to the X Wing Pilot... LOL

LOL, that was awesome. He was in season 1, as well for a few minutes. One of my son's said "dad, he sure looks like that guy from Kim's but he doesn't sound like him," so I pulled up a YT with the actor doing an interview. My son was stunned lol. He thought he was 'really' Korean-Korean.

Exactly…
Bobba is old now, although they could say he has some clone magic/Barca tank/stem cells that keep him alive and badass…

I love the Mandalorian character. I dig that it’s not just a race but a religious sect, and basically a futuristic (yeah yeah, it’s a long time ago in a galaxy far far away- shut up nerd!) knight with honor and all that.
But Bobba was legen-wait for it-dary and cunning and ruthless. So far he’s been all PC and family friendly. I want to see some ruthless bounty hunter stuff. I want to see him go all Outlaw Josey Wales on a bunch of fools. Or maybe he was that way when he was young and brash…
Either way, stop disnifying the story.
It’s like the whole “Han shot first“ nonsense:
No. Han didn’t shoot first. First implies that Greedo shot at all. Han straight up merc’d Greedo. After all he was a smuggler and space pirate who freely hung out in a most wretched hive of scum and villainy. Bring back that Wild West feeling.
Just my two cents

Interestingly enough, and proof of the Disneyfying-
That X wing pilot/cop- he didn’t die immediately. The fat X wing pilots all die right away in the original movies.
Even though I dig that character:
Enough with the PC nonsense !

There is nothing PC about the X-wing pilot surviving. Disney does some stupid stuff but stop looking for crap that just isn't there.

IIRC Boba is 40 years old in The Book of Fett. He was "born" on Kamino in 32BBY

I did some math on this and calculated that Boba would be about 42. The actor however is 61. I guess the sarlac acid aged him.

If you have 7 episodes to tell a character's story, it doesn't play to your favor to skip that character for an entire episode. Especially to further develop a character who will have another season of his own show. I am enjoying TBoBF overall, but it smells of something that was going to be more ambitious until someone in power decided that was not the way they wanted this done.

I don't see it that way but I understand where you are coming from. I try to keep in mind that Favreau and Filoni are driving the bus. Filoni for good or for bad is Lucas's protégé. Disney wants them to develop the entire Star Wars universe so they have endless story arcs which they can tie into merch and theme park experiences but the content is being driven at this time by F&F. Now overtime that might change but for right now they are in control of the content.

Einstein's theory of special relativity determined that time and space are not equal values via time dilation. Or since all of this is fantasy do we not introduce science?

This show reminds me of why I don't really watch shows. If you take away the nostalgia, and all of the fanboy "I read that in the comics" "you can see where Anakin went through the barricade"...and other "easter eggs" , you're left with bad writing. They keep doing things that just don't make sense.
Even the theme music tells you. It you listen they'll say it's...."dumb da-dumb-dumb da-dumb-dumb-dumb dumb dumb"

You could say this about most sci-fi. It's OK if the show isn't for you (or anyone). That doesn't make it crap. It more than serves the purpose of removing me from reality for 45 minutes at a time.

I'm trying. I mean I'm really trying hard to like it. But it's like they don't think about a plot, just memories and mythos

The part where Amy Sedaris showed up?
That’s your thing?
I can't YES this enough.

She's hilarious and pretty easy on the eyes. yet she basically only plays ugly characters or does voice work. Lots of people would probably fuss about being made to look ugly... she excels in it.
She could turn down the campiness a little in mando/boba and that would be fine, but they're still kid-friendly shows on D+ and she's filling that role.
