The Book of Boba Fett

I'm trying. I mean I'm really trying hard to like it. But it's like they don't think about a plot, just memories and mythos
But if the majority of your fan base wants/appreciates that, then that's sort of what you cater to. Do you know how many nerds' heads would explode if they didn't acknowledge some detail? But you're right, they should find a balance between that and the casual viewers like the rest of us.

I maintain that I'm entertained. I'm getting my $12 worth.

This show reminds me of why I don't really watch shows. If you take away the nostalgia, and all of the fanboy "I read that in the comics" "you can see where Anakin went through the barricade"...and other "easter eggs" , you're left with bad writing. They keep doing things that just don't make sense.
Even the theme music tells you. It you listen they'll say it's...."dumb da-dumb-dumb da-dumb-dumb-dumb dumb dumb"

See, this is where I diverge from a lot of SciFi fans. Too many people get caught up in the comparative hype between movies/books/animated shows, etc. and lose sight of the simple entertainment value a movie can have WITHOUT having to be a billion-dollar blockbuster movie.

Comparing notes between movies is great, and part of the whole deal. But for me, when I go to see a superhero movie, SciFi movie, or whatever, I'm there to lose myself in a movie about superheros and such.

I love the old TV shows like Man from Atlantis and the live action TV shows of the 70s Captain America and The Amazing Spider-Man. I loved the 1994 unreleased Fantastic Four, which SUCKS in so many ways...but it's a superhero movie, so it's got an entertainment value all it's own.

Yeah, the Avenger's movies were awesome. But just because something doesn't rank up there with Endgame doesn't mean that a movie just plain "sucks". Listening to some people, including critics, you'd think that EVERY movie has to be on par with that kind of production to be any good.

Star Trek is another one where people get all bent out of shape between one series and another. Just enjoy them for what they are, is my opinion.

I can't YES this enough.

She's hilarious and pretty easy on the eyes. yet she basically only plays ugly characters or does voice work. Lots of people would probably fuss about being made to look ugly... she excels in it.
She could turn down the campiness a little in mando/boba and that would be fine, but they're still kid-friendly shows on D+ and she's filling that role.

Ok, @Spartan01 , now I'm putting 2 and 2 together. Honestly I had no idea that she had that role. So how to get for being out when they roll the credits.

Exactly, cater to the nerds. We love that stuff, but make a good story too.
For example, in the new starwarts movies, how hard would it have been to make Po the new hotshot badass pilot the son of Wedge Antilles, the only pilot to fly against both Death Stars and live? Or have Chewbacca break the news of Han's demise to Leia? Little things for us to geek out about and argue with strangers on the internets.

Agreed, I couldn't figure out where I had seen her before, until I looked her up on IMDB.
She is the best at secretly being a smoke show!

She was born in NYC but grew up in Raleigh IIRC. One of her brothers is David Sedaris the writer. She was also Deb in Elf which was directed by.....? #Nerdalert #ultimatefanservice

I did not appreciate that she was the secretary in Elf, nor that she grew up in Raleigh. I did know about her brother.

Yes. Just like post #9 said. 😝

Six characters caught my wife off guard. She’s been doing a great job of not reading anything online until she gets to watch it.

The biggest shriek from her was when the stranger from the desert showed up. She really thought the stopping by to see a friend scene would be in Mando S3.

And she just about cried when Ahsoka made the comment to Luke about his father, signifying a relationship between her and Luke.

Finally caught up with the show. Glad to see it's picked up quite a bit since the first two episodes. I also like the tie-ins with Mando and the gang.

I'm not crazy about the mopeds, though.

I've finally started The Bad Batch and got through the first couple episodes. I'm liking that as well.

Nerd Fact:

You know Cad Bane is the one who put the dent in Boba's helmet when he was younger. Hope this shows up in a flash back. Story was from an unproduced episode in S7 of Clone Wars

I loved the Bad Batch.
The same guy does all the voices for the whole batch.

Just finished Bad Batch and I liked it.
I think they used the Ahsoka character development trick with Omega. She’s intentionally annoying at first and turns it around by the end.

which way do you think Grogu will go? Considering he’s of a race with a 900 year life span and he’s too cute to die, they are going to have to come up with a story line that doesn’t intersect the Rey/ Krylo/Old Luke arc.

The whole emotional separation (no forming of attachments) hype behind the Jedi mythology really bugs the heck out of me. Pretty much "everything leads to the Dark Side" this way and it's annoying.

It comes across as avoiding emotional attachments out of fear that darker emotions may arise and lead to evil instead of raising a person to be a well balanced individual capable of handling their emotions like a responsible adult.

It's annoying for it's BS.

Maybe team him up with that flesh colored today from the prequels?

Maybe whatever they are is green at the beginning and flesh colored when they are midlife, and green again when they are about to expire?

Pretty much everything the Jedi push is BS. They're tools for maintaining the status quo with a veneer of being the good guys, while tending to butcher their way through problems and kill anyone who they disagree with.

Pretty much...
Mr. Plinkett from RedLetterMedia breaks down the prequels and how dumb they and the jedi are here-

At least they don't kill dogs!

So let me get this straight…
A blaster shot to the chest will kill you regardless of who you are, or what side you fight for, unless you are Space Raylan?!?!?
I believe it was a shot to the shoulder. THe other dude took 5 or 6 to the gut...pretty sure he's BBQ'ed.

A blaster shot to any part of of a storm trooper's armor is fatal.

So had to wait until tonight to watch it because of the wife's works schedule.

I think people are looking at the Book of Fett all wrong. It is not a stand alone project. It is a vehicle to fill in the Star Wars universe between Empire and the Force Awakens. Just look at who is front and center. Luke and his Jedi Temple. Cad Bane. The Pike.s. Asoska etc...

The subtle messages like Asoka telling Luke so much like is father. Asoka was Anakin's Padawan. That line was epic! Only DF would throw that dig in. I would bet for too many viewers it went over their heads. The Jedi vs Mando creed is a great story arch. One of the biggest questions post Mando's last season was how does Grogu survive Kylo Rens destruction of Luke's Jedi Temple. Simple answer he was not there. 😳

I loved the Cad Bane appearance. He ties into Young Boba via the Clone Wars. They have have past and have been in conflict before. They will be again. I think that F&F and Disney are in for the long game. They are using this and the other series yet to be released to fill in and create the Star Wars universe . They are not looking to tell a single story in a season but create a foundation for endless arcs which ultimately serves their master Disney.

I think Grogu rejects the Jedi and will be a Mandalorian

If you paid $4B for the franchise you’d be stretching that mother out like a taffy machine!
