Did You Go Shooting Today

If you had one or more handguns with scopes, I believe Billy’s range will allow you to get out to a good distance.
I have him set up at 300. A grand time will be had by all. I hope Butter and his Pal will get in some pre match practice while here. 3 folks in the Bunk House again, good times ahead.

Put 150 rounds of blue bullets from @Butter (say that fast 3 times, lol) through the G-48, and another 100 through my old trusty 19. Finished up with 50 rounds through the AR. Good day it was.

When you were here Geezer and I both turned down a chance to shoot your pistol with that fancy sight on it. Today we were both wondering....WTF were we thinking??? Please, bring your Blaster back when you come, we would both like to see if we are too old to learn.

Friday afternoon I finally got to shoot a Contender that I traded for a while back. What a blast that was! I definitely need to start working on my distance and spend more time with it.

I also broke out my old Marlin in 22 magnum and remembered how much fun it is to shoot. It will still wear out an inch at 100 yards.

Brought my 11 year old Grandson to the range today, hes becoming into a great shooter. He had fun with a water bottle set on the hill at 30 yards using the M&P 15 22 and green dot reflex sight.. Hit the bottle, watch it fall down the hill, then tag it again and again. Then hit low sending the bottle back up the hill, then repeat.. He is becoming a great shooter and is very safe. No sweeps and calls cold and hot range. and Im darn proud of him.. Me,, I just practiced some double taps, weak and strong hand shooting with my 1911 as I get ready for the next match..Im still having some trouble with recoil control using the 45 ACP. Guess that's expected since its been 4 years since I shot it last and Im still searching for my old grip.

Wanted to shoot a little today but it was too nice not to get the bike out of the cobwebs so I took down and stuffed my AR9 pistol, my new G22 and everything else I needed on my bike. Didn't shoot a whole lot just wanted to get some chrono readings and do some plinking. Only shot two paper targets.

Did forget the stapler though, lol. On the left 15 rounds from 10 yards with the G22 shot standing semi quickly (20-30 seconds). On the right 10 subs from the AR9 standing at 50 yards. These were the 147s I bought from Butter yesterday, they shot great and averaged 985-990 fps from the 8" barrel + 9mm can.

Yep! Went down to San-Lee Gun Club with a friend of mine. Sighted in the 9mm AR pistol and the 308 AR. The 9mm runs perfectly. I'm having some cycling issues with the 308.

Ran into a neighbor at Tractor Supply this afternoon and invited him to come on over and shoot any time he wanted, got a call 15 minutes after I got home.. He brought over a sweet shooting Kimberly custom .45 and some kind of IMI clone of a hipster gun, I liked em both
we started off with the Wizard, I unofficially licked it and my guest did pretty Damn good at it from low ready. Was a good time for sure.

Used to belong there, it's been almost 10 years but it looks very similar.

You licked a Wizard?

On Saturday, yes. ‘‘Twas a very good day. Told my wife the only thing I was focused on was enjoying myself while shooting and getting more intimate with the Labradar. That thing is awesome! Love the data and having a better idea of the efficacy of my reloading practices. Shot some .308 and 6.5, out to 430yrds with my brother. Consistently hitting on and around the 2 in bullseye on 12in and 8in steel. Only snagged 1 pic but I was happy with it. That’s 2 3 shot groups (6 total) of 2 different types of ammo, my brother shot 1 and I shot the other, at 100yrds.

Not today, but Sunday I took a Defensive Handgun class up in Walnut Cove, at Apex Defense. It was quite a day and I was happy I did it, but a LOT of info is crashing around my brain. I think I need to do that class again. It really pushed me very far out of my comfort zone, and I liked it. Ryan is a hoot!

Awesome, and congrats. You will definitely get more out of it the second time around. Sometimes that first time is a little information overload, lol.

On the way out de doe. Cold and windy. Back later...
Just got in 5 minutes ago. Four heavy hitters on the compound. All 30 somethings, all dedicated fighters, all Serious Shooters. These are men constantly trying to improve and good to have on our side.
The Wizard killed them all. Frustrating as all Hell when shot right and in the First excercise.

How soon we forget......

Went to the range today. Was going to shoot some 22lr benchrest ( USBR Targets), but the wind was 20mpg and gusting (Manns Harbor, NC) so ended up shooting some pistols including my Colt Ace 22lr which is one of my favorites to shoot. Smooth and accurate and makes me look good!

Spent half an hour at TSA in Raleigh, tried out my HK P30 .40 S&W today, police trade from Kings and my Beretta Pico and 85F.
I shoots real good, have new medium grip panels on order.

I finally did get to the range, and got to shoot my first ever rifle, brought by Button Pusher all the way from Raleigh. Nice of him to travel all that way to keep me company, wasn't it?
I think the rifle was a .22 rimfire, but I forgot the rest of its name (AR, maybe?). I liked it a lot, it didn't kill my shoulder like I was afraid it would. The front of it was a tad heavy, I see I'm going to have to work my left arm a bit and get it stronger. Once I figured the sights out, I more or less hit where I was aiming. It was a lot of fun. I might have to get one of those.....you guys were right! (As you mostly are!)

I also shot a few of BP's other guns, most of which I can't remember the names of. One was a bit snappy, the rest were nice! BP seemed to like my 9mm.

I gave the 9mm 1911 a decent workout with 2 boxes of ammo, and the p238 got about 3 boxes. Billy's .45 1911 got about 24 rounds or so. All the guns behaved well.

A wonderful stress-reducing morning at the range!

Spent 1.5 hours at Jim's in Fayetteville with Mille, all her hard work and trainng has paid off, she is proficient with several types of handguns.
She tried my S&W M&P 15-22 (I verified the bolt is in spec), she is dead on for somebody who had never used an AR platform before.
I tried the .45 that Billy has loaned to her, wow that is one smooth pistol.:)
She tried my Beretta 85F and the Pico but they both have bit of a punch that takes getting used to.
Next up was my Ruger 1911 Cmdr, she handled is just like the pistol Billy loaned her, then my Beretta 92fs compact and the S&W 5906.
Next was my Beretta Neos and the Beretta M9-22, both with the Sparrow suppressor.

Took longer to get there then last time due to some lane closings along the way.

MacEntyre has met the Wizard. I'll let him tell you later when he can post. The Wizard is the most aggravating exercise I have ever shot. What the Hell? It's only 5 rounds, the farthest distance is only 10 yards. I think it's because it Must be done Cold. The time limit is plentiful. It is as Hackathorn explains on YouTube, The Gold Standard Test as to whether your chosen firearm and your chosen method is valid for you. I shoot it 7 days a week. I lose more than I win. Anytime I shoot a full size gun I am almost assured of a win. When I use my EDCs, it's a bear.

I'm dead. Wizard killed me. Even got me with multiple re-do.

All errors are magnified. Found out that 20% of the time available is what itakes for me just to hear the beep and pull the trigger. Found out my P7 doesn't work as manual says... squeeze cocker after trigger (feels like simultaneous) results in no bang. Found out front pocket is a looong, slooow draw.

Wizard reminds me of the Israeli air marshall that killed a hijacker by simply advancing and firing. He was a wizard, who is standing right in front of you in 2.5 secs... what are ya gonna do? Whatever you do, it better be clean, and fast.

Wizard defeats deep concealment. I carry front pocket in cargo pants because where I work there are people who would freak if I was outed. In Non-Permissive Environments, a charge from 21 feet will defeat you, if your weapon is too deep.

I need to get a timer and set up a wizard. I don't like being killed!

Thanks for making the drive! And for bringing some new goodies for me to try. Loved the rifle.....as all you guys anticipated I would.

believe it or not, I have been shooting some airguns since the backyard is now a restricted zone thanks to the new construction next door. It's fun, esp when you have some decent airguns and plenty of CO2.
Picture of a late 90s vintage Benjamin/Sheridan EB20 pistol. It's all brass, walnut and blued steel. It shoots a 5mm/.20 caliber pellet, which rings my rimfire steel plate rack nicely. Cheaper to shoot than even rimfire. I may do a little trigger job and play with the gas regulation.

If anyone needs to know more about these airguns, Pyramyd has a pretty good blog post from 2010 https://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2010/03/the-sheridan-model-e-co2-pistol/
