Revolver Picture Thread

A few 3" Model 10, 13, 64 and 65. The spurless 64 is a NY-1.

Not been around long myself but have read the old threads. I don't have any issue with @Prosecutor vacuuming up all the nice revolvers, as long as he practices "catch and release" ;)
I heard rumors he was looking to buy a used Brinks truck to use as a revolver safe.

I really dont know why I like this.

Probably because there is really a lot to like. It's unconventional but an interesting design. The low barrel likely helps manage recoil. Also, it looks chunky but is surprisingly light because of the aluminum frame. These are always on my radar. However, I've not picked one up because they are expensive and I have no holsters or other accessories. Maybe some day. @Goofyfoot2001 , you buy it and I'll try it :)

Rarely catch and release. As @Cocked & Locked said, I am sort of a revolver hoarder.

Also, as @Geezer mentioned, hoping that my daughter will enjoy them. When she gets to middle school and all of her friends are playing with plastic Glocks, she will outclass them with her shiny (but with appropriate holster wear) revolver and a practiced double-action trigger pull. Got to set this kid on the right path.

I have never owned an "L Frame." Yup, never. That could be your thing.

Really, like really? I’ve never owned an L frame either. Got no interest in them.

Python is same size and do have one of those.

That's weird. Between the two of us...not a single L Frame. Ya, never really had an interest in them. Well, wouldn't mind picking up a 242 Ti (7 shot .38+P centennial).

I buy most everything with an eye toward carrying concealed. J and K Frames are concealable. L Frames, although only slightly larger than K, feel too big. Also, I get 5-6 shots out of J and K frames and most of the L and N frames offer nothing more. Just bulk. That said, I've got a few N Frames...but they were either super good deals or have a special purpose (like hiking in bear country.)

See, that's exactly what has me hacked off.

After you graciously offered me exclusivity on L frames, I immediately began researching. The first to catch my eye was the titanium 242. I called my bank and got them to agree I could skip next month's mortgage payment if I find a decent example. I get everything lined up and here you jump in sayin' you're gonna suck all those up too.

MODS!!!!!!!!

Well maybe since @Prosecutor already has nearly all of the revolvers ever made he should seriously consider devising his own line of custom revolvers incorporating the best features. The new model could be simply called the Prosecutor. While he is busy with engineering and funding that project, we can be hunting for sloppy seconds on whatever other revolvers are left in the marketplace. ;)

But if the 242 .38 SPL temps you, maybe a 296 AirLite TI in 44 SPL! Made only from 1999-2001.

Wow. Yes it does fantastic gun. They are both great. Only reason that I prefer 242 is the caliber. I'd snatch up a 296 if it were staring me in the face. Not sure if i have ever seen one in real life. Hard to find. You carry it?

Wish I had it. Only have a older 3" CA Bulldog for a .44 SPL. That or a 3" 686/696 would be the only L frame I would want. Should have stated that was for the L frame discussion only.

"The Prosecutor" would be an Airweight version of the Smith Model 73, built on the previously failed "C Frame." Of course, improved due to advances in metallurgy. It would be a 6 shot .38+P, a a available in blue or nickel. Each gun would ship with a Ahrends Goncalo Alves hideout boot grip AND rubber Hogue Bantams. It would come with fixed traditional sights or maybe a gold bead in the front sight ramp. It would have forged internals and the trigger face would be smooth and medium width. Oh hell, I guess it would also have to be a available in "chief's special," bodyguard, and centennial style. Shrouded hammer if I could only choose one. MSRP would be about $675.

But, I've obviously never given it much thought. Or,....I could just buy some shrouded ejector rod Colt Cobras.

Good, my plan is working...

I see you have your own private Range at home. PS, you need to let those rise longer before baking if you want 4" barrels.

I've learned so much about revos I was unaware of in this thread. Thanks fellas!

See? Safes so full, they're stored willy nilly in the oven.

Someone's gotta put a stop to this, I say!

The only thing better than a 642(no dash)...is two 642(no dash)s [Product Code 104790]

Found one a few weeks ago (rubber grips) and posted it on here. Another arrived today. Both came with matching box and tools but incorrect grips. This one arrived in Magnas. I may have an Uncle Mike's Boot grip in the "grip box."

These are the original 642 with clear anodized frame and forged internals.

A new / old Smith & Wesson 442 (no dash). This is build on the original J frame (smaller than current J Magnum frame) and has forged internal parts (not MIM), and no lock. Made in 1994-1995.

Came with no box or docs but, by my observation, it's likely not been fired since the factory.

In my view, the Smith & Wesson 442 is one of the best all around CCW guns. It is lightweight (aluminum frame), reliable, and hold 5 rounds of .38 or .38+P (depending on "-" number). All can handle +P for carry.

The greater majority of 442 have blued carbon steel barrel and cylinder with matte black alloy frame. However, a few of the earliest "no dash" models had a matte nickel finish. These are made on the smaller original J frame (not J Magnum) and have forged internals. I found one [emoji4] ..... A matte nickel 442 (no dash) with matching box and docs. Here are some photos:

Thank goodness @Prosecutor already has this gun.
Otherwise, I'd have certainly had no chance of scooping one up. :D

Since my previous pics disappeared with the photobucket snafu & because there just aren't nearly enough single action revolvers in this thread, I'll post up my meager collection of wheel guns.

Ruger Bisley Super Blackhawk Hunter & 5.5" Bisley Blackhawk, both in .41Mag. The Bisley grip does wonders for recoil management & with extra heft of the Hunter, stiff hunting loads feel plinking loads. They both really like 240gr Keiths & I wanna work up some barn-burners fueled by 2400 for the Hunter.

pair of 41s.jpg

6.5" .357 Blackhawk, wearing Altamont's slim panel grips. Very accurate & sweet shooting gun. Perfect heft & balance & handles the stiffest (factory) loads with ease. I've got some 180gr SJHPs & a whole bunch of 180gr LWFN I'm looking forward to trying out.

357 blackhawk.jpg

5.5" Single Ten. Hands down, the funnest handgun I own.

singleten-1.jpg

Thank you. That Hunter was one of my "grail" guns for a long time. I'd really like to pick up a 7.5" .41 Bisley, along with a 6.5" .41 Blackhawk. I want to Bisley the 6.5"er & put a SBH grip frame & hammer on the 7.5"er to have myself a .41 Super Blackhawk.

That said, my next revolver will be a double action. Been wanting a 6" full lug stainless GP-100 for a long time & that TALO version is calling my name. I'd planned on sending it to Clements for a .41 Special conversion, but Ruger just did a run of uncatalogued .41 Blackhawks in stainless & I'm thinking I'd better grab one of the 6.5" stainless .41 Blackhawks while I can.
