Just found this thread. Anyone have experience with older (70's vintage) Audemars Piguet?
I have one that was a gift. I’m guessing it would be 90’s production or so.

Mine was also a gift, but it's just not my style. My father in law gave it to me on the day I married his daughter. I've never worn it (not my style), but was always curious what it's monetary value is.

I keep getting an error when I try to upload: "The site administrator will need to resolve this before any files can be uploaded"

It’s a nice watch. Has it been sized? These can be hard to sell because of the way the band is constructed. But generally they are the value of the gold plus a premium because it’s an AP.

It hasn’t been sized (by me if that’s your question). Like you said, I really don’t see a way it could be sized other than possibly adding somehow to the clasp. The band it impressive in terms of how it appears to be completely solid.

I wore it all day today to wind it, but that's the first time I've ever worn it. Should I keep this on some type of stand that turns it occasionally, or is it OK to keep in my safe as is.

Casio sliderule chrono. Slide rule really works, just in case I need to build a Saturn 5 or something.20210205_192921.jpg

Point me in the right direction if this isn't the thread for this type of conversation.

I am in the market for a new watch, but I am not in tune with all brands. I would like a reliable chronograph that I can wear daily, but not sure where to look.

I think this is as good a thread as any to talk about it. What’s your budget? Do you want quartz, automatic, or manual? Give some more deets.

A shop I do work for sells Citizen, they have some nice looking chronograph. Eco-Drives are a decent movement and they have a decent warranty. Senko makes a nice chronograph as well. If you want to spend more, there’s some good watches out there.

Budget is somewhat flexible. I know that's a non-answer, but it kind of depends on the watch. I would say $1000-$4000. Obviously, I want to spend on the lower end of that but if there is a good option I would venture towards the higher side.

I wore a Seiko quartz for a few years, and it never let me down. I believe it is a SNX123 with stainless band. I don't wear it much due to the smaller sized bezel (compared to the huge ones out today). I am 6'2", 190 so it looks pretty small on my wrist.

I moved to a Swiss chronograph, and loved the style but I had to have the movement replaced under warranty in the first year, and now it's out of warranty and broken. I can't remember the brand but will dig it out tomorrow.

Lots of good options in that range. I’ve personally always wanted a Speedmaster, probably the sapphire sandwich. That’s what I’d be looking for.
